I have photographed in Füssen before, but every time I go there, I get more and more amazed about the infinite possibilities of making creative wedding photos. The region is often chosen as a wedding or elopement location in Germany, specially by those dreaming about a Neuschwanstein Castle wedding. After all, who doesn’t like the idea of getting married surrounded by such a fairy tale background? But the location always surprises us with more than the famous castle. That is why, when Emily and Kenny first contacted me, I got mega excited. One of my favorite locations in Germany would become place for a cozy winter elopement wedding. And I love winter weddings (no wonder I also got married in that season)!
Everything was awesomely planned by Peach Perfect Weddings. The couple would have a small ceremony in a field with the stunning castle as background. Then, we would drive around and have some fun making couple photos. I arrived one day before to find a wonderful layer of snow covering the fields, and was astonished by how beautiful the mountains were at sunset. But then something changed: in the morning of the wedding day, it started to snow. The mountains were gone. We couldn’t really see the Neuschwanstein Castle. But this would not be a problem for us! Instead, we decided to enjoy the misty atmosphere brought by the snowy weather and have the best winter wedding experience… And it was awesome!
The ceremony was very intimate and personal. Alicia, the wedding celebrant, shared some kind words about their story together, and then it was time for the vows. As the perfect close up, Alicia’s dog, who was walking around, decided to join us in a very spontaneous way, and made it all even more special! Then it was time to start exploring the surroundings. Forests, lakes, and lots, lots of snow. After a while, even the castle decided to make an appearance! We were driving at the moment, but we quickly stopped the car, and run to the fields to have a photo with it :) it was so much fun!
Of course, none of this would be possible if it wasn’t for having the most amazing couple! The lightness, the smiles and the way of carrying the day made this elopement extraordinary. Working in a team, trusting each other’s crazy ideas, and being grateful for every little detail. Kenny and Emily, thank you for making this remarkable winter elopement wedding real!
